The Master of Medical Laboratory Science (MMLS) is a professionally oriented postgraduate programme designed for graduates seeking advanced careers in medical laboratory science. It provides specialised training in the scientific foundations of modern laboratory medicine and their application to laboratory diagnosis, quality assurance, and laboratory management. Structured as a higher-degree qualification for experienced Medical Laboratory Science graduates, the programme strengthens advanced technical expertise while deepening understanding of clinical correlations.
The MMLS aims to enhance the scientific competence of non-medical graduates by providing insight into clinical problems and preparing them to work effectively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams. With a strong emphasis on work-based learning, research exposure, and practical application, the programme develops highly capable professionals equipped for academic, research, and leadership roles. Career planning guidance and life skills development are integrated from the first year, ensuring graduates are well prepared for sustained professional growth and excellence in laboratory medicine.
The programme offers two years of rigorous, hands-on training in hospitals and affiliated healthcare organisations, enabling students to develop advanced technical skills and professional competencies in real clinical settings. During this period, each student undertakes a research project in their chosen specialisation under the guidance of an experienced mentor.
Our dynamic, student-centred, and competency-based approach integrates lectures and tutorials with problem-based, case-based, and project-based learning to enhance clinical reasoning and critical thinking. Small group discussions, seminars, clinical conferences, e-learning, and skills laboratory training further strengthen practical expertise. Research remains a core component, fostering innovation and building a strong scientific foundation for professional growth.
Duration of the program is 2 years or 4 semesters with 1340 hours of Lecture & 900 hours of practical Training.
