Master of Science in Anesthesia and Operation Theatre Technology (M.Sc. AOTT) is a specialized postgraduate programme aimed at developing advanced clinical expertise, technical proficiency, and research competence in anesthesia and perioperative care. The programme provides in-depth knowledge and hands-on training in advanced anesthesia techniques, operation theatre management, critical care support, pain management, and emergency life-saving procedures. Strong emphasis is placed on patient safety, infection control, equipment management, quality assurance, and adherence to ethical and legal standards in clinical practice.
Designed in alignment with the competency-based framework of the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP), the programme integrates advanced theoretical instruction with intensive clinical exposure and structured research training. The curriculum fosters analytical thinking, clinical precision, decision-making skills, and professional accountability, preparing graduates to function independently, take on leadership roles in operation theatres and critical care units, and contribute effectively to high-quality perioperative and anesthesia services.
M.AOTT programme is a two-year full-time degree programme conducted by the Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS). It is a unique, skill- and competency-oriented programme designed to provide specialization in anesthesia and operation theatre practices while preparing students for dynamic professional roles in hospitals, surgical and critical care units, healthcare organizations, medical equipment and device industries, research and development centers, academic institutions, and healthcare administration and regulatory sectors.
The duration of Master of Anaesthesia & Operation Theatre Technology shall be two academic years (4 semesters).

"Master of Anaesthesia & Operation Theatre Technology (M. AOTT)" will be awarded at the end of semester 4 examination by taking into consideration the performance of all semester examinations after obtaining minimum 4.00 CGPA out of 10 CGPA for the programme.

Teaching in the Master of Science in Anesthesia and Operation Theatre Technology (M.Sc. AOTT) programme is structured to develop advanced theoretical knowledge, specialized clinical expertise, research competence, and professional leadership required in modern anesthesia, perioperative, and critical care services. The programme focuses on enhancing skills in anesthesia techniques, operation theatre management, patient monitoring, emergency care, and pain management.
The programme follows the competency-based framework recommended by the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP), integrating higher-level academic learning with intensive clinical training and structured research exposure. This approach enables students to develop critical thinking, clinical decision-making abilities, and leadership skills, preparing them to excel in advanced anesthesia practice, OT management, and multidisciplinary healthcare environments.
The M.AOTT programme follows a competency-based, outcome-oriented pedagogy as recommended by the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP). It is designed to ensure the development of advanced clinical competence, critical thinking, research capability, and professional leadership in anesthesia and perioperative care.
Assessments should be completed by the academic staff, based on the compilation of the student's theoretical & clinical performance throughout the training program. To achieve this, all assessment forms and feedback should be included and evaluated.
Examination: There shall be a University examination at the end of each semester. Evaluation is based on formative evaluation (Internal Assessment) and summative evaluation (University examination).
The internal assessment for theory and practical's shall be 20 marks each. Internal assessment for theory shall be calculated as average of two sessional examinations, seminars, assignments etc. The internal assessment for practicals shall be calculated on the basis of the records of the practicals maintained and examinations.
A Candidate must secure at least 40% of total marks fixed for internal assessment in a particular course in order to be eligible to appear in the university examination of that course. If candidate is having inadequate internal assessment marks shall appear for internal assessment in the next semester.
A candidate who satisfies the requirements of attendance, progress and conduct shall be eligible to appear for the university examinations. There shall be a university examination at the end of each semester. To be eligible to appear for University examination a candidate should fulfil all the following conditions:
A candidate is required to carry out research study in a select area of his subject, under the supervision of a faculty guide. The results of such a study shall be submitted to the University in the form a dissertation as per the prescribed format and within the date stipulated by the University.
Important: It is the responsibility of the Candidates to ascertain whether they possess the requisite qualifications for admission. Having been admitted provisionally does not mean acceptance of eligibility. Final eligibility for admission will be decided by Symbiosis International University.
