The Bachelor of Science in Cardiovascular Technology (B.Sc. CVT) is a specialized undergraduate programme designed to develop competent cardiovascular technologists with strong scientific knowledge, clinical skills, and technical expertise in cardiac diagnostics and interventional procedures.
The programme focuses on training students in advanced cardiovascular diagnostic modalities such as Electrocardiography (ECG), Echocardiography, Treadmill Testing (TMT), Cardiac Catheterization, and Electrophysiology. With rapid advancements in cardiac care technology, the programme emphasizes hands-on clinical exposure, equipment handling, patient care, and procedural assistance in high-end cardiac settings.
Aligned with modern healthcare demands, the curriculum integrates theoretical knowledge, clinical training, and research orientation to prepare students to function efficiently in multidisciplinary cardiac care teams. Graduates are trained to assist cardiologists in both non-invasive and invasive procedures while ensuring patient safety, ethical practice, and quality care delivery.
The programme is conducted by the Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS) and is designed to produce highly skilled allied health professionals capable of meeting global healthcare standards.
Cardiovascular Technology is a rapidly expanding field with increasing demand for skilled professionals in cardiac diagnostics and interventional cardiology.
Graduates can explore career opportunities in:
The programme also opens pathways for higher education and specialization in cardiac sciences.
Total Duration: 4 Years (48 Months) – Full Time
English
Semester Pattern
Bachelor of Science in Cardiovascular Technology will be awarded upon successful completion of the programme and fulfillment of academic requirements as per university norms.
The programme follows a semester-based structure integrating:
Students progressively advance from foundational sciences to specialized cardiovascular training and clinical exposure.
The programme is designed to:
Total Intake : 20 Seats
Passed Standard XII (10+2) or equivalent examination from any recognised Board with any two of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Mathematics OR equivalent as decided by competent authority, with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade. (Eligibility as per NCAHP)
Students will be evaluated throughout the four years of the programme by periodic tests as well as assignments. Consideration will be given for the student's contribution to classroom discussions, written reports, reading and other assignments. The evaluation of the student's performance is done by means of continuous on-going internal evaluations as well as at the end of each semester external examination will be conducted by SIU.
The evaluation will have both internal & external components. The internal component will be continuous throughout the semester & external component will be conducted by the university at the end of the semester. A student would be required to pass in each head (internal and external) independently. Students would be assessed according to the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) system.
Students would be awarded the Grade Point Average where grades would be awarded based on the class average. A student would be required to perform consistently well. The Bachelor of Radiation Therapy Technology programme will have a total of 144 credits in 4 years. Each credit is defined as 15 hours of teaching (Lecture or Lecture demonstration) or 30 hours of supervised practicals. Each credit is assessed for 25 Marks. For all external courses internal assessment will be of 40% and external assessment will be of 60%. Practicals will be 100% external. Internal courses will be evaluated 100% internally by the institute.
EXAMINATION PATTERN
All internal courses will have 100% component as continuous
internal evaluation at the institute level. All external courses will have 40% internal component
and
60% external component [University] examination.
STANDARD OF PASSING
The assessment of the student for each examination is done,
based on relative performance. Maximum Grade Point (GP) is 10 corresponding to O (Outstanding). For
all courses, a student is required to pass both internal and external examination separately with a
minimum Grade Point of 4 corresponding to Grade P. Students securing less than 40% absolute marks in
each head of passing will be declared FAIL. The University awards a degree to the student who has
achieved a minimum CGPA of 4 out of maximum of 10 CGPA for the program.
