The two-year full time Masters in Business Administration - Hospital & Healthcare Management, MBA (HHM) is a residential programme with electives in, Healthcare IT, Healthcare Insurance , Pharmaceutical management focuses on equipping students with the knowledge and skills required for the management of healthcare organizations, be it hospitals, Pharmaceuticals, IT, Insurance, Clinical research, Equipment manufacturing, Public healthcare establishment, Consultancies, NGOs, Wellness industry and others as may evolve from time to time.

The programme aims at adopting a synergistic blend of academic knowledge and pragmatic orientation of the field to create professionals adept at identifying practical problems and using time tested and contemporary managerial techniques to arrive at the most appropriate solutions for the problems in healthcare sector.

To empower potential hospital & health care management professionals with indepth knowledge, skills, abilities & practical exposure which to equip them with the required competencies for contributing to the health care and allied sectors in a meaningful manner

SELECTION PROCEDURE

Symbiosis International University has from this year brought the complete admission process under one umbrella. The process has been completely revamped. A simplified streamlined process which is user friendly, convenient and easy to access for the aspirant has been brought in from this academic year.

  • Group Exercise and Personal Interaction (GE-PI) process for all MBA programs at respective institutes.
  • SNAP Test Score + Academic Profile Score will form the basis for short listing candidates for Group Exercise and Personal Interaction (GE-PI)
  • Academic Profile Score will be computed on the basis of weights assigned to academic performance in 10th Std., 12th Std. and Graduation
  • Selection process comprises of Group Exercise (GE) and Personal Interaction (PI)

The program is designed in a manner that apart from the didactic teaching methods like classroom lectures, students spend a substantial amount of their learning time in diverse types of healthcare organizations where they get hands on practical training.

During the period of study, students work on a number of case studies and undertake a project pertaining to Hospital/Healthcare management under the supervision of faculty mentor.

Eminent guest faculty further enrich the course content through talks on contemporary issues for the health sector.

Innovative teaching methods and talks conducted by industry experts contribute to all round personality development in addition to academic excellence and practical competences.

EXAMINATION PATTERN

Students would be evaluated throughout the two years of the programme through summative and formative assessment. Quizzes, assignments, classroom discussions are some of methods used for formative assessment End external semester examinations are conducted for summative assessment.

AWARD OF DEGREE

The SIU will award the Master of Business Administration in Hospital & Healthcare Management, MBA (HHM) at the end of the two year programme to all successful candidates. A detailed grade sheet and transcript will also be issued to each successful student.

INTAKE

MBA HHM : 120 seats

Orientation and Pedagogy

The programme is structured to incorporate both didactic teaching approaches, such as classroom lectures, along with experiential learning at SUHRC, Public Sector organizations, and similar institutions. The pedagogy for the programme encompasses a diverse range of instructional techniques, including lectures, case studies, business games, simulation exercises, role plays, group discussions, field visits, industry-based projects, and reflective thinking on the real world problems and the learning process. The design of this programme takes into account the impact that each of these learning strategies has on shaping the cognitive development of young students.

During the designated year of academic study, students are required to participate in a two- month Summer Internship Project (SIP) within several areas of healthcare domains. These internships are conducted under the guidance and supervision of a faculty mentor. The course curriculum is enhanced by the inclusion of regular sessions conducted by distinguished guest lecturers, who provide valuable insights on current concerns within the healthcare industry.

The integration of innovative pedagogical approaches and guest lectures delivered by industry professionals significantly contribute to the holistic development of the students, by academic curriculum which integrates acquisition of practical skills with theoretical knowledge

Eligibility Criteria

Candidate should be Graduate from any recognized University/ Institution of National Importance with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade (45% or equivalent grade for Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribes.

Note : Candidates appearing for Final year bachelor's degree examinations may apply but their admission will be subject to obtaining a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) in their final exam.

15. What is the programme structure?
Answer:The programme is divided into four semesters of six months each. After completion of Sem I &Sem II, students undergo 12 weeks summer internship. As part of the programme, a student also has to take up public sector training of 2 weeks. At the end, of the programme, is the On -Job Training. Students will be evaluated throughout the two years of the programme by periodic tests as well as assignments. Student’s evaluation is a continuous process.
