Teaching in Radiation Therapy Technology is designed to develop strong theoretical knowledge, clinical competence, technical precision, and ethical responsibility required in modern oncology care. The programme follows a competency-based framework aligned with national regulatory guidelines, integrating academic learning with hands-on clinical exposure in radiotherapy settings.
At the commencement of the programme, students undergo a structured orientation that prepares them for professional training and clinical responsibilities. The orientation includes:
Understanding the role and responsibilities of a Radiation Therapy Technologist
This orientation ensures that students are well-prepared for safe, ethical, and effective participation in clinical environments.
The programme adopts a blended and progressive teaching–learning approach to ensure competency development:
This orientation ensures that students are well-prepared for safe, ethical, and effective participation in clinical environments.
Students will be evaluated throughout the four years of the programme by periodic tests as well as assignments. Consideration will be given for the student's contribution to classroom discussions, written reports, reading and other assignments. The evaluation of the student's performance is done by means of continuous on-going internal evaluations as well as at the end of each semester external examination will be conducted by SIU.
The evaluation will have both internal & external components. The internal component will be continuous throughout the semester & external component will be conducted by the university at the end of the semester. A student would be required to pass in each head (internal and external) independently. Students would be assessed according to the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) system.
Students would be awarded the Grade Point Average where grades would be awarded based on the class average. A student would be required to perform consistently well. The Bachelor of Radiation Therapy Technology programme will have a total of 144 credits in 4 years. Each credit is defined as 15 hours of teaching (Lecture or Lecture demonstration) or 30 hours of supervised practicals. Each credit is assessed for 25 Marks. For all external courses internal assessment will be of 40% and external assessment will be of 60%. Practicals will be 100% external. Internal courses will be evaluated 100% internally by the institute.
EXAMINATION PATTERN
All internal courses will have 100% component as continuous
internal evaluation at the institute level. All external courses will have 40% internal component and
60% external component [University] examination.
STANDARD OF PASSING
The assessment of the student for each examination is done,
based on relative performance. Maximum Grade Point (GP) is 10 corresponding to O (Outstanding). For
all courses, a student is required to pass both internal and external examination separately with a
minimum Grade Point of 4 corresponding to Grade P. Students securing less than 40% absolute marks in
each head of passing will be declared FAIL. The University awards a degree to the student who has
achieved a minimum CGPA of 4 out of maximum of 10 CGPA for the program.
