OBJECTIVE

This program is approved by Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB).

To train students in Radiotherapy techniques with specific objective driven learning such as Radiation safety, Special patient preparation before the study to obtain the most accurate result in radiotherapy procedures and handling the machines used for the procedures effectively.

These students would be in a position to competently assist the Physician, to cater to the branch of Radiotherapy globally.

Based on marks in Qualifying Examination followed by Entrance Examination, Personal Interaction and Written Ability Test

The medium of instruction for all the courses shall be English.

PATTERN OF PROGRAMME

EXAMINATION PATTERN

Students will be evaluated throughout the four years of the programme by periodic tests as well as assignments. Consideration will be given for the student's contribution to classroom discussions, written reports, reading and other assignments. The evaluation of the student's performance is done by means of continuous on-going internal evaluations as well as at the end of each semester external examination will be conducted by SIU.

STANDARD OF PASSING

The assessment of the student for each examination is done, based on relative performance. Maximum Grade Point (GP) is 10 corresponding to O (Outstanding). For all courses, a student is required to pass both internal and external examination separately with a minimum Grade Point of 4 corresponding to Grade P. Students securing less than 40% absolute marks in each head of passing will be declared FAIL. The University awards a degree to the student who has achieved a minimum CGPA of 4 out of maximum of 10 CGPA for the program.

AWARD OF DEGREE

SIHS offers a four-year B.Sc. (Hons) Radiotherapy programme with an exit option in the third year.


Bachelor of Science (Radiotherapy) will be awarded at the end of semester VI examination by taking into consideration the performance of all semester examinations after obtaining minimum 4.00 CGPA out of 10 CGPA.


Bachelor of Science (Honours) (Radiotherapy) will be awarded at the end of semester VIII examination by taking into consideration the performance of all semester examinations after obtaining minimum 4.00 CGPA out of 10 CGPA.

EVALUATION / ASSESSMENT

The evaluation will have both internal & external components. The internal component will be continuous throughout the semester & external component will be conducted by the university at the end of the semester. A student would be required to pass in each head (internal and external) independently. Students would be assessed according to the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) system.

Students would be awarded the Grade Point Average where grades would be awarded based on the class average. A student would be required to perform consistently well.

The B.Sc.(Hons) Radiotherapy programme will have a total of 160 credits in 4 years. Each credit is defined as 15 hours of teaching (Lecture or Lecture demonstration) or 30 hours of supervised practicals. Each credit is assessed for 25 Marks. For all external courses internal assessment will be of 40% and external assessment will be of 60%. Practicals will be 100% external. Internal courses will be evaluated 100% internally by the institute.

Satisfactory completion of the letter grade courses 'Integrated Disaster Management', 'Core Environmental Studies' and ‘Fitness for Life’ are mandatory for award of degree. Satisfactory completion of Observer ship with hospital after semester II examination and Hospital Practicum Training with hospital/industry/Research organization after completion of semester III,IV,V & VI examination is mandatory for award of degree.

Global Immersion Program (GIP) / Service Learning, Liberal Arts & Inter Institute Credit transfer programme- Students of UG programmes of SIU are offered Global Immersion Program (GIP) of 12 credits OR The students can opt for Service Learning, Liberal Arts & Inter Institute Credit Transfer equivalent to 12 credits in the 4th semester

Eligibility Criteria

Std. XII pass with any two of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Mathematics OR equivalent as decided by competent authority.

STEP I: Online registration to B.Sc. (Hons) Radiotherapy : Complete the online registration by filling the online registration form and making online payment of registration charges. Registration charges are Rs.1250/-

STEP II: You will be called for Entrance Test & PI-WAT exam ( Personal Interview and Written Ability Test)

STEP III: Selection will be intimated to candidate through email.

STEP IV: Admission process for B.Sc. (Hons) Radiotherapy programme will be completed after the verification of all the submitted documents and payment of 1st instalment of academic fees.
